Hitting the Rise Ball
by: Coach Dan

This is a hard question. If you want to hit a rise ball, most batting instructors have said you want to be on top of the ball, which means you want to move up in the box. Most pitchers, however, will tell you that the rise ball is very rarely thrown as a strike, which would say move back in the box so that it is obvious to the umpire that it is a ball. So, it depends on the batter. If your batter is a good high ball pitcher, move up. If not, move back and plan for it to be a ball.

Would welcome other thoughts on this one.
