Columbia Junior girls had some pretty aggressive base runners during the District All-Star tournament that played a key role in taking first place.

Base Running: key to success
by: Coach Dan

Sheri,

Thanks for the picture. Base running, one of the more under-taught phases of the game, is one of the easiest ways to change the whole complexion of a game. If your team is comprised of base running savvy players (notice I am not saying they all have to be 100 meter dash champions), this will put enormous pressure on the defense, and eventually they will make a mistake. Knowing when to steal, when to take the extra base and generally being situation alert, can often mean the difference between winning and losing.

Congratulations to the players, coaches and parents on your team's success.

Kind regards,

Dan
