i know this has nothing to do with fastpitch but i am a freshemen in high school and im trying to get into softball but i have no skills in softball so what should i do this summer so i could be on my high schools softball team next year
Why wait until summer? The reason why most high schools have a varsity, junior varsity and, in some schools, a freshmen team, is so players of different levels can still play the game. I would meet with the softball coach and tell him/her that you would like to try out for the team and say you have no previous experience but want to learn. Ask the coach to help you with this aspiration. If the person is truly a "coach", you would be shocked how happy that will make the coach. I know if someone like you came to me and said that, I would be honored to help you because of your guts and determination. I would offer to help you before or after practice. Why? Because I want players with a willingness to work hard and go the extra mile to learn the game.
As far as the summer, I suggest you join the local recreation league or if you can find a travel team to play for, do it and tell the coaches exactly what I said above. At some point, everyone is a beginner. It is only through hard work and determination that you become good at it. So, don't be shy. Go and make it happen!
